QuarkChain Bi-weekly Project Progress Report: Nov 30 — Dec 13, 2019
Welcome to the 47th QuarkChain Bi-weekly Report for the period from Nov 30 to Dec 13. For the past two weeks, we announced plenty of news and attended many events.
Highlights:
- QuarkChain Go TPS Competition Season 2 with 3 BTC Rewards is ongoing. 200,000 TPS Peak Challenge has been breached.
- Added deployment of gas utility system contract
- Attended offline events and conferences; introduced blockchain and QuarkChain technology; and shared idea about application trend of the industry in the future.

QuarkChain Go TPS Competition Update
In just a few days, 200,000 TPS Peak Challenge has been rapidly breached, and the third TPS peak challenge goal is: 300,000 TPS. The first challenger who reaches this goal will receive 0.2 BTC + 400,000 QKC reward. Everyone has the opportunity to participate in the division of the total value of 3 BTC rewards pool by inviting other people to participate. How to protect security, and avoid double spending attack?
On December 1, the project Vertcoin (VTC), which adopts PoW and ASIC-resistant Algorithm, encountered 51% double spending attack again. This attack was carried out by using Nicehash, a hash power leasing platform, to purchase and rent hash power. To solve problems of PoS, QuarkChain offer own solution: high hash power protection +Proof of Staked Work.

11/30 Chain Talk Online AMA
QuarkChain held a technology sharing AMA in LK Talk community. Ke Ping, technical director of QuarkChain in Beijing, shared the functional features and architecture of QuarkChain. On the one hand, we can allow different shards adopt different consensus, token economy, virtual machines, and ledger models according to the development plan, such as DPoS shards, PoS shards, shards using Libra virtual machine and so on. In addition, we can also set up special functional shards, such as we can add privacy shards (zcash, monoreo) and so on.
12/4 2019 CAN Conference
On December 4, the “CAN conference” was successfully held in Hangzhou. The theme of this conference is “Link everything, Blockchain and the new pattern of global economy”. Professor Yang Yaodong, the QuarkChain research scientist, attended the meeting and made a speech in the thematic discussion entitled “Path of blockchain infrastructure”. He focused on the relationship between the alliance chain and the public chain; how to deal with market changes, and the application trend of the industry in the future.
12/8 Blockchain Lecture in BUPT
Last week, QuarkChain team came to Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications to give a lecture on the blockchain to freshmen. As an alumni, Du Ting, QuarkChain CBO, gave a lecture entitled “From blockchain 1.0 to 3.0”. He introduces the origin of blockchain in detail and analyzed how QuarkChain’s sharding technology solve the problems of flexibility and throughput required by the landing of blockchain.

Since the birth of Ethereum, public chains have sprung up. However, the lack of business application scenarios makes the story of public chains questionable. On October 24, 2019, the state promoted the blockchain technology to the national strategic level. Blockchain technology has attracted much attention.
